Post-Partum Recovery Support

Help at home for a recovering mother — meals, laundry, errands and a hand with the day, so she can rest and heal.

Who it's for: Mothers recovering at home after giving birth — particularly after a caesarean or a difficult delivery, and mothers without family nearby. Our license permits us to care for adults only.

Common questions

Can your caregiver look after the baby while I sleep?

No. Our Illinois Home Services Agency license permits us to care for adults only, so a caregiver cannot take responsibility for your baby or for other children in the house. What we can do is take everything else off you — the meals, the laundry, the errands, the household — so that resting is actually possible when your baby sleeps.

So what does a caregiver actually do?

They care for you. That means help with bathing and moving around while you are healing, meals prepared and ready, laundry done, groceries in the fridge, and a ride to your own follow-up appointment. For a mother recovering from a caesarean, that practical support is often the difference between healing properly and pushing too hard.

Is this useful if I have family helping already?

Often yes, because family tend to focus on the baby while the household quietly falls behind. We cover the parts nobody else picks up.

When should we arrange it?

Most people arrange it during the third trimester, particularly if a caesarean is planned. Deciding in advance means one fewer thing to sort out during a week when sorting things out is hard.
